Brock Lesnar's injury at WWE Backlash was one of the main talking points of the recently concluded premium live event, the aftermath of the injury was in full view on this week's episode of RAW. From the looks of it, the injury is more than real.
During the past weekend in Puerto Rico, The Beast Incarnate came up short against Cody Rhodes. Although the former was dominant in the first half, he slowed down after he hit his head on an exposed turnbuckle, which caused him to bleed. The feud between both stars continued at this week's RAW after Cody was attacked by Lesnar, who visibly wore the effects of the match.
For those wondering, Brock Lesnar's eye injury was real and wasn't the product of any makeup, along with the stitches on his forehead. During Backlash, it should be noted that the former UFC fighter hit the turnbuckle quite harshly, which explains his bruised eyes.
Cody was recently involved in a triple-threat match for the World Heavyweight Championship tournament against Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura. Toward the end of the match, The American Nightmare was attacked by Lesnar, causing Balor to win.
The beating on Rhodes continued even after the bout, where he was put through the table and challenged to a 'fight' at Night of Champions. Later on, the match was confirmed for the upcoming Saudi Arabia premium live event.
Was Brock Lesnar's injury from WWE Backlash a result of blading?
As known by many fans, the Stamford-based promotion often strays away from blood and, especially, the use of blading. While many fans thought The Beast used the banned technique during the event, it was revealed that it was indeed caused by the collision on the exposed turnbuckle. However, it seems like the higher-ups weren't happy with the method.
As per Dave Meltzer on FW4online, the usage of blood was not an accident and was permitted, but the way Brock Lesnar did so wasn't something they were happy about.
"The blood with Brock Lesnar vs. Cody Rhodes was attempted and not an accident. Lesnar is allowed to do that although blading, which is far safer then smashing your forehead hard into steel to get blood, is not allowed in WWE."
From the looks of it, Brock Lesnar might take some time to heal his injuries before his match. However, it's evident from the recent RAW show that it doesn't mean Rhodes should belittle the wounded beast.
