In case you didn't know...
After his release from WWE, Punk launched into an explosive tirade on an episode of Colt Cabana's "Art of Wrestling Podcast", slamming the world's largest professional wrestling company for its treatment of him. The Chicago native even claimed that Amman failed to diagnose his serious staph infection and mistreated one of his concussions.
Amman subsequently filed a lawsuit against Punk and Cabana, seeking one million dollars in compensation and an unknown amount in punitive damages.
The heart of the matter
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the trial — originally scheduled for May 22, 2018 — has been postponed as both parties involved are in talks to settle out of court. The report suggests that further delays aren't entirely out of the question.
Amman has submitted six pieces of evidence for trial, some of which may include audio clips that will be played in court. This lawsuit is one of the biggest reasons for Punk's fractured relationship with WWE.
What's next?
"The Second City Saint" will return to the Octagon against Mike Jackson at UFC 225 on June 09, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois.
Author's take
Amman's lawsuit is one of the biggest obstacles to a potential WWE return for Punk. If the former ROH product can somehow mend his relationship with Vince McMahon, a return to full-time professional wrestling may not be out of the question.
