It was reported earlier that WWE released Ricardo Rodriguez after he requested for it due to frustrations over his non-wrestling role in the company.
Ricardo was involved with NXT as he was wrestling as El Local in Kalitso. But following an injury, his spot was given to Sin Cara.
His weight issues were also a concern as it didn’t meet the requirements of WWE’s standards. Wrestling Observer reports that WWE had set a weight goal for Ricardo and they wanted him to attain a certain physique but he had problems keeping up to it.

Rodriguez was signed to both talent and an announcers contract. His talent contract had just two weeks left on it after he was released.
He had been doing some Spanish language broadcasts but with the ongoing budget cuts, a three-man Spanish broadcast team was too much for the WWE.
