Sami Zayn is set to defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Money in the Bank Premium Live Event next Saturday, and there are several things for the champion to factor in. Not only will he have to defend it against an up-and-coming star, but he also has to do it in front of his home crowd.

WWE Money in the Bank 2024 will emanate from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, the home of the champion, Zayn. After defeating Gunther for the title at WrestleMania 40, he is set to face a stiff challenge in the form of Bron Breakker.

The former NXT Champion has wreaked havoc on RAW lately, since joining the brand, and it looks like he definitely wants to leave a mark on the champion, which may be for the best reasons.

For this list, we will look at three reasons why Sami Zayn must lose his WWE Intercontinental Championship at Money in the Bank PLE next weekend.

#3. Elevate Bron Breakker's status as a force to be reckoned with

Breakker's dominance in NXT continues to follow him onto the main roster into Monday nights. Lately, he has attacked any wrestler who has dared to cross him, but his character still needs something more if the company wants to get him over with fans.

They could elevate his status by not only having the 26-year-old dethrone the veteran, but he could also injure Zayn enough for him to be written off from WWE television for a brief period. This way, Bron could be portrayed as a major heel while the former champion can take some well-deserved time off.

#2. Sami Zayn losing in front of his people will hype Bron Breakker's character more

The recent Clash at the Castle: Scotland Premium Live Event was proof enough that WWE was not scared of having a hometown hero lose in front of their own people. So like Drew McIntyre in Scotland, they could apply a similar formula again this upcoming weekend in Canada with Sami Zayn.

If the company wants to push Bron as a heel, it could do so by having him defeat Zayn in brutal fashion in front of a boisterous Canadian live audience. With the Intercontinental Champion fighting in front of his friends and family, his annihilation, especially an unfair one, would generate tremendous heat for Breakker. Thereby elevating the 26-year-old's status as a fearsome heel.

#1. Possible way to reunite with Roman Reigns

Before Sami Zayn became Intercontinental Champion for a fourth time, he worked hard to gain a spot in The Bloodline. He eventually became successful but chose to turn his back on them eventually, and even feuded with the faction. It's hard to imagine that he has already completely forgotten the time spent as 'Honorary Uce.'

With Solo Sikoa changing everything about The Bloodline, Roman Reigns might be outnumbered and in desperate need of allies upon his return. One person The Tribal Chief could look towards is his former Honorary Uce. If Sami Zayn doesn't have a championship, it would be an easier transition for him to join his former Head of the Table and other babyfaces to further The Bloodline saga.
