Rey Mysterio (real name: Óscar Gutiérrez Rubio), an American professional wrestler of Mexican descent, is performing on WWE's Raw brand as of November 2024. Born on December 11, 1974, in Chula Vista, California, he is the son of Mexican parents, María del Rosario and Roberto Gutiérrez. Under the mentorship of his uncle, Rey Misterio Sr., Mysterio began his wrestling journey in Mexico, after leaving high school. At just 14 years old, he made his professional debut, performing under various monikers, including "La Lagartija Verde" (The Green Lizard), "Colibrí" (Hummingbird), and Rey Misterio Jr. Following his debut, he honed his craft in numerous independent promotions before joining WWE in June 2002, where he cemented his legacy as one of the greatest wrestlers in history.
