On last week's episode of Monday Night RAW, Dominik Mysterio made a clear choice in siding with Rhea Ripley and going against Liv Morgan. However, despite this choosing of sides, many believe Dirty Dom will end up costing Mami her chance of winning the title against Morgan at SummerSlam.
This potential betrayal from Dominik has led to many wondering whether Rhea Ripley's real-life husband and former WWE Superstar, Buddy Matthews could return at SummerSlam to save her. The answer to this question is 'no!' Even though the angle would be good to watch, the chances of Mathews returning to the Stamford-based company is simply not on the cards.
The 35-year-old is currently contracted to All Elite Wrestling and has only recently re-signed with the Tony Khan-led promotion. Reports suggest that while Matthews did consider leaving AEW, Tony Khan was not keen on losing his stars to WWE. That was possibly one of the reasons he offered Matthews a lucrative deal to continue with the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Is this man the funniest man in wrestling?
Given Buddy Matthews has now re-signed with AEW, there is no chance he can return to save Rhea Ripley at SummerSlam. Hence, if Dominik Mysterio does end up betraying The Eradicator at SummerSlam, then she will probably have to navigate her way out on her own.
Wrestling journalist predicts result of the match between Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan
Since winning the Women's World Championship, Liv Morgan defended it once against Becky Lynch. Rhea Ripley on the other hand is one of the most formidable superstars in the Stamford-based promotion.
On paper, it might appear to be an even contest, although, veteran wrestling journalist Bill Apter has already predicted a winner. During an episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Time Machine show, Apter said he does not see Ripley beating Morgan at SummerSlam. He felt this rivalry would go on for a few more months and culminate in another premium live event meeting between the two competitors.
"It will be a good match. I don't see Rhea Ripley regaining the title though. I think this is gonna go on for another few months to another pay-per-view," said Apter. [6:31 onwards]

If Ripley does end up losing at SummerSlam, it will be interesting to see how she deals with the loss. It will also be worth observing what role Dominik Mysterio plays during the title match.
