As much as us wrestling fans like to crap on WWE for pushing “typical wrestlers”, you can’t deny that times have changed in the WWE. Instead of big muscles and powerful move-sets, WWE has recently been looking for the more technical wrestlers and guys with an established indy following. Seeing as it has been a recent trend for WWE to pick up guys from Ring of Honor (and that half of the current champions in the WWE are ROH alumni), it’s time to take a look at eight ROH roster members that would be a perfect fit for the WWE.

Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin

Fans have been clamoring for Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin to return to the WWE, and why shouldn’t they? The two have great chemistry as a team, are great characters and in-ring competitors, and they already have a history with the WWE. And with the recent rumors of Shelton Benjamin being in negotiations to return to the WWE, maybe we could be seeing the World’s Greatest Tag Team back on Raw sooner than we think.

Although it may seem like an odd choice to have Eddie Edwards, who is known to have an extremely unorthodox style, to be in the WWE, the Die Hard has the look and high flying moves that the WWE fans could easily get behind (just like Evan Bourne). The only thing holding him back from a WWE contract would be his lack of charisma.

Why Jay Lethal hasn’t already been picked up by the WWE is a mystery to me. He has loads of charisma, a great character, a move-set that is perfect for the WWE, and is already established due to his run in TNA (and feud with Ric Flair). Out of all the guys on this list, Lethal is the best fit for the WWE.

Jimmy Jacobs

This may be an odd choice considering his fellow S.C.U.M members are (no disrespect to Jacobs) a little more talented in the ring than the Zombie Princess, but Jacobs’s character and charisma are enough to earn him a WWE contract alone. The demented, sadistic, and humorous character of Jimmy Jacobs would fit in just right with the WWE, and his in-ring style doesn’t need any neutering for the WWE (unlike Steen’s). Still, the chances of Seth Rollins‘s former tag team partner getting into the WWE are pretty slim.

Michael Elgin was one of the break-out stars for Ring of Honor in 2012. After proving to ROH’s tough-to-please fan-base that a powerful big man can be an accomplished technical wrestler too, Elgin has been one of the highlights of ROH. With an explosive move-set, and great look, and a mullet that men only dream of, don’t be surprised to see the Unbreakable Michael Elgin in the WWE within the next couple of years.

Mike Bennett is a controversial figure on the independent scene. A lot of people hate the prodigy due to a lack of technical wrestling ability. Others love him because he just oozes charisma. Well, oozing charisma is exactly what gets you into the WWE, and he is a way better wrestler than people give him credit for (which I think he proved in his trilogy of matches with Lance Storm). Rumors have been circulating recently that the WWE has been meeting with the Prodigy, and if those rumors happen to be true, we should be seeing Bennett (and hopefully Maria) in the WWE in 2013.

Mike Mondo

Mike Mondo was a member of the Spirit Squad in the WWE. As you already know, the only surviving member on the cheerleader group is Dolph Ziggler, who is currently on his his way to becoming World Heavyweight Champion. Although it would seem as all the other members of the Spirit Squad have disappeared Mike Mondo has been making a new name for himself on the independent scene. With an amazing look, amazing charisma, and some good in-ring work, the WWE might be kicking themselves right now for letting the uber-talented “Mikey” go. But, it’s never to late to rectify the mistake, right?
