Road to WrestleMania XXX: Ideal path for CM Punk

Ready for the good year

Ready for the good year

Some week back CM Punk opened an episode of Raw and claimed that this year didn’t belong to him. Considering the fact that he ended up in pay-per-view squash matches against Ryback from being one of the longest reigning champion in history, he might’ve had a point.

But all that is slowly turning into history now as Punk has reemerged as a top dog after a high profile feud with the Shield. 2014 could turn out to be the year of Punk if he is booked in a similar way. The most integral part of making the year a successful one would be how he will be handled at and until WrestleMania.

So here is a look at the best way to project the straight edge superstar through to WrestleMania in order to make full use of the talents he possesses unlike last year.

Finalist or the longest standing superstar in the Royal Rumble

The Royal Rumble screw

The Royal Rumble screw

The first task at the creative’s hand would be to give Punk some great momentum before heading into the title picture. Instead of choosing the obvious and making him win the Rumble and thus involve in the Title feud, what they can do is give him an impressive run in the Rumble then give a high profile feud before the title feud.

Thus pushing Punk into the WWE title match would have to wait till WrestleMania concludes as he could work on something bigger till then.

However, for a star of his caliber, he should perform in the Rumble well so that he looks credible in front of the fans. And making him is the last one to be eliminated or being the longest entrant in the match would be the ideal way to pull off the thing.

But instead of eliminating Punk plane and square, the creative should involve Kane in the process as it would also progress the confrontation that they had recently. This could serve as the foundation of Punk’s big feud with the Authority with Kane being the minister serving for his king.

The Do or Die buildup

Minister before the King

Roddy Piper once said that the only guy that could catch him on mic is CM Punk, is he right or what? Punk is known for his captivating promos and no one would’ve forgotten the famous pipe bomb he did against Vince McMahon and John Cena.

Segments like this will be the playground for Punk as he will be taunting Kane to get into the ring. He could take some shots at Triple H also asking the COO of the company to do the same.

But Triple H being the guy he is would refuse and will make Kane serve the honor. The added stipulation of “You get me if you beat Kane” would be a classic twist to the proceedings leaving Punk to a do or die situation.

With orders from his boss, Kane would also be urged to get into the ring which opens the door for him to go back to his current role after the match. Thus this would serve as a buildup for…

The Do or Die Match against Kane at Elimination Chamber

Against all odds

Against all odds

The WWE could book this like CM Punk against all the odds match as Triple H would try everything in his power to ensure that Punk doesn’t win.

TNA did something similar in AJ Styles’ last match which turned out to be chaos which was enjoyable to the core. Similar booking could be used by WWE but with Punk winning the match overcoming whatever Triple H throws at him.

The match is going to carry a lot of heat as it has so much at stakes. It would also be interesting as Kane wouldn’t be stepping into the ring at his own desire.

A swerve from Kane will be the epitome of surprise but the match would work out even without that. So after the match the battle lines will be drawn for Punk and Triple H at WrestleMania.

Punk’s incarnation as the Steve Austin of PG Era

The Authority vs. The Rebel

The Authority vs. The Rebel

The backbone of the Attitude Era was the feud between Steve Austin and Vince McMahon. Austin represented the common people who were tired of their bosses and wanted to whack the hell out of McMahon.

He chose various ways to do so and Punk could do the same to Triple H in a toned down version. We are clearly not going to see the amount of violence or T&A that we saw at the Attitude Era but the microphone skills of Punk could be more than enough for the fans to enjoy.

Getting personal and making fun of the whole McMahon Family is one of the best things that Punk knows to do and he could drop many such pipe bombs to make the feud hotter. The entire taunt would finally make Triple H burst out of his suit thus making the eventual match more exciting.

Thus another stipulation can be added for the match with it being, if Triple H beats Punk, he is fired else if Punk defeats Triple H he gets a title shot. The stipulation raises the stake higher and does not limit the dimension of the match as well.

Career or Title Shot Match At WrestleMania against Triple H

The Showdown

The Showdown

The long fought feud is going to culminate at the granddaddy of them all. Punk and Triple H will fight it out in one of the biggest matches of the night.

Punk’s career is at Stake leaving him in another door die situation similar to that of Elimination Chamber. The rumors that Punk is retiring from wrestling wipes off the predictability factor leaving us with an open match.

But what’s best for business would be letting Punk win the match. This will serve as a pass the torch moment in WrestleMania history. The match sure promises to produce fireworks and it also lay the foundation for Punk’s title chase thus giving him a good year.

Punk could then go on to feud with Orton, Cena, Batista or Bryan while Triple H could go back to his office duties and plot the plan for next WrestleMania. Kane would be back in the ring as well giving some tough competition for lights of Big E Langston and other midcarders. It’s a win-win situation for everyone and that’s why this is the best way to book Punk to WrestleMania.
