While The Shield—the trio of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Jon Moxley, aka Dean Ambrose—disbanded in 2019, The OTC and Seth Rollins could re-form the legendary faction with seven-time champ Sami Zayn in the coming days.
As fans must be aware, Bronson Reed joined forces with The Bloodline for the WarGames Match at Survivor Series last week on WWE SmackDown. Following that, the Solo Sikoa-led faction interfered in Reed's match against Seth Rollins on RAW to cost the latter a win.
Given how things unfolded, Rollins could be the fifth member of Team Roman Reigns for the WarGames Match. The Visionary could reunite with his Shield partner on tonight's WWE SmackDown. However, a Shield reunion isn't likely anytime soon, given that Jon Moxley is bound to AEW until at least 2027.
Hence, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins may replace the AEW star with a new member, and that could be none other than Sami Zayn. The seven-time champ (four-time Intercontinental champion, one-time SmackDown Tag Team Champion, one-time RAW Tag Team Champion & one-time NXT Champion) is currently a part of The OTC's team for Survivor Series.
Following the upcoming civil war, the creative team could have The Usos start working as a tag team once again, while the remaining three members of Team Reigns could stick together to re-form The Shield.
This angle is purely speculative, but Sami Zayn shares a good bond with both The OTC and The Visionary. Given his caliber, the Honorary Uce could be an apt replacement for Moxley in the legendary faction.
Seth Rollins calls WWE SmackDown star Roman Reigns his brother
While Seth Rollins currently can't stand Roman Reigns on-screen, The Visionary shares a great bond with The OTC in real life. In an earlier interview with Cam Heyward of ESPN, Rollins broke character to heap high praise on Reigns.
Rollins admired his former partner for his work before calling him his brother. The Visionary further hailed Roman as one of the greatest to ever do it.
"He is one of the greatest ever to do it. I'll say nice things about him. He's my brother; we came up together. He is one of the greatest to ever do it. I don't always agree with him, but he is one of the greatest to ever do it. No doubt," he said.
With Rollins and Reigns likely to reunite tonight on WWE SmackDown, it won't come as a surprise if we see a new version of The Shield in the coming days. Will that be the case? Only time will tell.
