We are just hours away from the 2014 Royal Rumble and the anticipation levels are reaching unprecedented heights as the pay-per-view is sure to make big impacts on the landscape of WWE. There are a lot of matches to look forward to with the 30 man battle royal being the main highlight as usual.
And the company has a lot of pay-per-view shame to wipe off but the Rumble has all the potential to do the same. Preparations for the thirtieth WrestleMania will also see a significant shift of gears on Sunday which makes it a must watch show.
All the battle lines are drawn for the marquee event but before witnessing the extravaganza let’s take a look at the possible outcomes from the Royal Rumble.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Tag Team Championship: Cody Rhodes & Goldust (c) vs. New Age Outlaws
Prediction: The New Age Outlaws wins and becomes the Tag Team Champions
Why: Not everything lasts forever. The Rhodes Brothers gave a new life to the Tag Team division but at one point or the other the feud between the two brothers is imminent.
Dropping the tag titles to the New Age Outlaws would be a great start of things. The Degenerates will also stamp the authority’s dominance with their reign while being credible tag team champions. The tide of nostalgia would sweep the division and make it worth following even if The Rhodes brothers drop out of it.
Aftermath: The Rhodes Brothers head into the Rumble with some great friction between them and eventually eliminating each other. The feud might extend till WrestleMania while The New Age Outlaws will fight with all the young talent in the division as Tag Team champions.
Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt
Prediction: Daniel Bryan wins through disqualification
Why: Bray Wyatt doesn’t give a horse shoe about win-loss record. The only thing he wants to do will be to destroy Bryan. But don’t expect the match to be short or null of action as the beat down would only come after some great buildup.
Erick Rowan and Luke Harper are sure to get involved in the proceedings and thus giving Bryan the punishment for what he did.
Aftermath: arguably the most unpredictably storyline in the promotion at the moment, it’s hard to see whether the creative would stretch it further more.
Bryan and Wyatt clearly need to have different feuds at WrestleMania but from the looks of it; this is heading to Elimination Chamber where Bryan would finally get his revenge.
Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show
Prediction: Brock Lesnar wins easily
Why: Big Show winning against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble ain’t going to happen unless Big Show becomes a huge film star and wins one or two Oscars.
The Beast returned to WWE to win titles or lose against big names and Show clearly isn’t a big name. Lesnar will be bound to build some momentum before WrestleMania. Thus Show will only act as a squash opponent despite being build up as a threat to Lesnar.
Aftermath: Big Show might be taken out of the television for some time so that he could be repackaged for WrestleMania. Meanwhile, Lesnar will live up to his words and go after whoever that wins the championship match at the Rumble between John Cena and Randy Orton.
WWE Championship: Randy Orton (c) vs. John Cena
Prediction: Randy Orton wins and retains the title
Why: John Cena has bigger things coming for him. Despite being projected as a cowardly champion after TLC, Orton will get the job done at the Rumble because the company would want to make him look credible before facing a bigger competition.
The match would divert ways for Cena and it will also wipe off the rematch clause thus leaving Cena free from the title scene. He has much bigger things to go to with a match with Undertaker being the epitome of things.
Aftermath: with the win Orton will be a worthy champion who will be ready to face his next challenge. A title drop to Batista or Lesnar in the near future looks likely as Cena would go to a much different place as mentioned above.
Royal Rumble Match
Predications:
Iron Man: CM Punk
Most Eliminations: Roman Reigns
Surprise Performer: Antonio Cesaro
Possible returns: Kane (To Eliminate CM Punk), Rob Van Dam, Christian, Chris Jericho, Sheamus, Jimmy Wang Yang, and The Undertaker (if he returns he wins)
Possible Swerves: Goldust on Cody Rhodes, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins on Roman Reigns, Authority on CM Punk
Winner: Batista
Why: Because Daniel Bryan is not in the Rumble. The absence of the flying goat means that the only potential winner in the Rumble is Batista. CM Punk winning would take him out of a potential match feud with Triple H and the lights of Roman Reigns and Big E Langston are not ready to main event WrestleMania.
The winner might be predictable but there are going to be a lot of subplots that will make the rumble a great match. Huge returns and unexpected swerves will make it another big success as always.
Aftermath: There will be a lot of subplots turning into storylines after the Rumble with one involving CM Punk and Authority being the most notable.
Batista’s title chase will be another one while Roman Reigns journey to top of the food chain will be kicked off. Goldust and Cody Rhodes would give an emotional feud with the returning superstars also making a big impact.
