5. Goldust
The return of Goldust has been named as one of the greatest returns ever in the WWE by hall of famer, Jerry Lawler. Goldust has fought his way back into the business and has won the tag team title which he rightly deserves. He has shown that the WWE still has people who can fight in the ring with age no bar. Ric Flair did it in his 60’s and Goldust is doing it in his 40’s. Although, Goldust is not anywhere near the favorites’ list but we can expect him to prove his abilities in the Royal Rumble main event.
4. Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio has had his WrestleMania moments in the past and has proved more than once over the past few years that he is not the underdog. Out due to an injury for a long time, this high flyer can get the spotlight in the Royal Rumble main event. Rey Mysterio has the agility and the ability to survive the match and considering his return, teaming up with the Big show, we can look forward to this man getting into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship scene. Also after the TLC Pay-per-view, it is clear that he is here to stay.

3. CM Punk
“The best in the World”! CM Punk claims to be the best and rightly so. He has proved time and again throughout the entire 2013 that he is a man of his words. From being a Heyman guy to being Heyman’s biggest enemy, he has done it all. He faced the best in the business including the likes of Brock Lesnar and Ryback. With a victory over the Shield at TLC, Punk moves in towards Royal Rumble with all the momentum on his side. After working so hard throughout the year, punk deserves the championship shot and we can expect him to give a tough time to everyone in the ring at Royal Rumble.
2. Daniel Bryan
This man has been in the limelight for some time now. Being handpicked by Cena as the No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship to being the target of the corporation, Daniel Bryan has fought through it all and the way he has performed throughout the year after being let down as the underdog every single time is commendable. He is currently one of the best performers in the business and after watching him fight Randy Orton past Monday Night on Raw will surely bring up a question of him going after the title. Royal Rumble is the opportunity to get him closer to his dream and Daniel realizes that. We can expect the bearded man to give it his all at the Royal Rumble main event.
1. John Cena
Even after the victory at TLC, Randy Orton failed to become the face of the WWE Universe. John Cena might have failed at winning the unified championship but won millions of hearts and continued to be the face of the WWE. Never has the man failed to entertain the audiences and has always carried the image of a champion, be it the US Championship, The WWE Championship or No Championship. Don’t forget last years’ Royal Rumble where John Cena returned from an injury earlier than expected to enter and win the main event. Could this years’ Rumble be De Ja Vu? Moreover, the victory at the main event is his ticket to show Orton that “The Champ Is Still Here”.
