WWE came out of WrestleMania XL Week with significant momentum in the lead-up to the 2024 Draft. However, a top superstar was just forced to the sidelines and new details have been revealed.
Seth Rollins suffered a torn MCL and partially torn meniscus back in mid-January but decided against surgery so that he could work through the biggest time of the year. The Visionary teamed with Cody Rhodes for a loss to The Rock and Roman Reigns on Night One of WrestleMania 40, and then he dropped the World Heavyweight Championship on Night Two.
Becky Lynch revealed that her husband underwent knee surgery on Tuesday, April 16, but WWE has not announced an official diagnosis or timeframe for his return. A new report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio notes that Rollins would be out of action for around 6-8 months if he needed reconstruction on the knee.
Backstage sources implied at one point that The Architect would be undergoing a minor surgery, not a heavy reconstruction, according to the report. If that's the case, then the 37-year-old could be out for around 2-3 months.
Meltzer also pointed to how some athletes return from this type of injury in less than 2-3 months. This is rare, but it does happen, and there have been pro football players who return from a torn meniscus one week later.
Seth Rollins on his WWE contract expiring
Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins could see their World Wrestling Entertainment contracts expire this summer. It remains to be seen if new deals are close to being signed, but efforts to re-sign several top stars have led to major internal changes in the company.
Speaking to Fightful for an interview that took place before WrestleMania, the former Shield member made it clear that he wants to stay with his current employer. Rollins said he loves WWE.
"It's all there in writing. We're going to get a new deal. Something is going to get worked out. WWE is my home. I love this place. I love this industry. I'd like to spend more time with my daughter as she gets a little bit older, but at the end of the day, I want to stay here. I want to be here for the rest of my life. I love this place," Seth Rollins said.
Rollins went on to comment about how company officials see him. He also gave his thoughts on what the compensation will be.
