A recent report has shed light on the possible direction WWE could head into for Cody Rhodes as the WrestleMania 41 season inches closer. If rumors are to be believed, WWE is planning to pit Cody against John Cena at The Show of Shows.

As The Leader of the Cenation readies for his retirement tour, fans have been eager to see what Triple H and his creative team have in store for him. Cena has been announced for the upcoming episode of RAW on Netflix on January 6th, where he could share more details about what viewers could expect in the coming months.

It has also been speculated that the 47-year-old star could announce himself for the 2025 Men's Royal Rumble Match next month. Amid this, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE was planning to have John Cena face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. This would ideally mean Cena could potentially win the Royal Rumble Match and then challenge Cody for the Undisputed WWE Title.

Dutch Mantell doesn't think WWE will book John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes for WrestleMania 41

A few days back on Sportskeeda's Smack Talk podcast, Dutch Mantell dismissed the possibility of WWE having John Cena chase Cody's Undisputed WWE Title at WrestleMania 41. Dutch believed that since Cena was a part-time performer now, the WWE wouldn't want him to dethrone The American Nightmare for the gold.

"It's according to how they pace it and how they present it. I still don't think there's any doubt in anybody's mind who's gonna win. They know Cena is part-time. They're gonna come in and they're gonna put the title on him? I don't think that's gonna happen," said Dutch Mantell.

Cody is currently gearing up to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Kevin Owens in a Ladder Match at Royal Rumble 2025. The duo earlier clashed at Saturday Night's Main Event 2024, where even though Cody Rhodes came out on top, an irate KO stole his Winged Eagle version of the title and stormed off the arena.
