WWE and AEW have both had forbidden door working relationships with TNA in recent years, and Scott D'Amore was instrumental in making these historic alliances happen from TNA's side. After a controversial exit from the Nashville-based promotion, D'Amore's plans for the future turned heads. There's continued speculation on some sort of future with Triple H or Shawn Michaels.
Team Canada's former coach D'Amore has worn many hats in pro wrestling since 1992. After brief enhancement work with WWE and WCW, as well as other North American promotions, the veteran star joined TNA in 2003 and spent almost 20 years with the company and its associated brands. He was controversially released last February by Anthem Sports & Entertainment while he was TNA's President.
D'Amore appeared on-screen with Tony Khan multiple times during the AEW-TNA partnership. After the alliance fell apart, D'Amore later linked TNA up with WWE and its NXT brand. The 50-year-old promoter fueled rumors and speculation on a job with the Stamford-based promotion when he visited the WWE Performance Center in mid-November.
A recent update from Fightful Select addressed an inquiry on D'Amore potentially heading to World Wrestling Entertainment, and what his role could be. It was believed that the Canadian grappler likely would not join Triple H and his crew, but if he did, he'd likely work with Shawn Michaels' team in NXT in some fashion.
D'Amore continues to maintain a good working relationship with WWE, which keeps the door open for potential work in the future. He did have what was described as informal talks while at the Performance Center in November. D'Amore is busy after re-launching Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling last fall in Ontario, with an inaugural two-night event on Triller. Scott reportedly plans to move forward with the brand, with new and archival content on social media, events, and more.
While this latest update noted that the 2024 Canadian Pro Wrestling Hall of Famer is busy planning MLPW's 2025 schedule, there's been speculation that D'Amore is involved with the WWE ID (Independent Development) program, which is related to Triple H's major plans for the company's future.
Former TNA World Champion debuts for WWE
Penta has officially arrived in World Wrestling Entertainment. The second RAW Netflix episode from San Jose opened up on Monday with one-half of The Lucha Brothers making his big debut.
Penta defeated Chad Gable in just over thirteen minutes. He delivered a post-match promo and declared that this isn't just the company's new era of Netflix, it's also the new Penta era.
Penta drew major buzz for the RAW brand ahead of Monday's live episode, and new character details were revealed. It's believed Rey Fenix will join his brother in the Stamford-based promotion later this year when his AEW contract expires.
