Jacob Fatu seemingly injured his right leg at WWE SummerSlam and was reportedly "banged up" after the event. The latest backstage report provided an update on the legitimacy of The Samoan Werewolf's injury.

Cody Rhodes addressed Fatu's injury in a promo last Friday on WWE SmackDown. Rhodes said that the 32-year-old Bloodline member was hurt and wasn't with Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa.

According to Rajah Wrestling News, Fatu was not present backstage on SmackDown last Friday at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. There is a "growing belief" among WWE Superstars that The Samoan Werewolf is legitimately injured.

It's a contradicting report from what Fightful Select and Wrestling Observer initially provided following SummerSlam. Both news outlets reported that Jacob Fatu selling the leg injury was planned from the start, so it's possible that he was not injured by his high-risk move on Cody Rhodes.

However, The Samoan Werewolf was also seen with a walking boot the day after SummerSlam. Triple H then said at the post-show press conference that Fatu was among the superstars who were "banged up." Corey Graves also mentioned on commentary last Friday that the star was hurt.

Jacob Fatu has not directly interacted with Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns returned at WWE SummerSlam and took out Solo Sikoa with a Spear. Jacob Fatu was lying helpless on the floor due to his injury and didn't have a direct interaction with The Original Tribal Chief.

This past Friday on WWE SmackDown, Reigns confronted The Bloodline but Fatu was absent from the show. The Head of the Table brutalized Tonga Loa and also Speared Tama Tonga through the barricade as Sikoa watched from the entrance stage.

The two Tribal Chiefs are likely heading for a collision course soon with Bash in Berlin and Bad Blood coming up in the next couple of months. It will be interesting to see if Fatu and Reigns will come face-to-face in the near future.

Fatu has lived up to the hype, terrorizing the blue brand in his first few months on the main roster. He's already won a championship and has looked unstoppable even against the likes of main event stars like Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens.
