A veteran WWE Superstar has been "taken care of" following a recent controversy. New details have just leaked from backstage on one of the first real scandals of this new era.
Ronda Rousey abruptly left World Wrestling Entertainment last year, then blasted the company in media interviews to promote her new book, and then in the book itself.
The UFC Hall of Famer accused a male superstar of grabbing the drawstring of her sweatpants while backstage one night in 2022. She later named Drew Gulak and said she confronted him. Gulak released a statement and noted that he had previously apologized to Rousey.
The University City Stretcher was removed from his seat at the recent Hall of Fame ceremony and pulled from other WrestleMania Week events. Gulak was then absent from No Quarter Catch Crew's NXT TV segment and edited out of their entrance video.
An angle on this week's NXT implied that the faction paid Tony D'Angelo and The Family to "take care of" their former leader. This was seen as the company using a storyline murder to potentially write Gulak off TV. Now, a new update from F4Wonline's Bryan Alvarez reports that WWE investigated Rousey's claim.
WWE officials interviewed several people about what happened between Rousey and Gulak, as both said there were witnesses present that night. The results of the investigation have not been disclosed, but it's very interesting that Gulak was "murdered" in the storylines right after it wrapped.
Gulak has worked with the Stamford-based company since May 2016. The 19-year veteran is trusted in the ring as he's one of the few wrestlers officials send to work with part-time talents like Logan Paul, Bad Bunny, and The Rock.
WWE star reacts to Ronda Rousey's comments
Ronda Rousey began working with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2015 and then signed a full-time contract in 2017. She left last year after shockingly losing to longtime friend Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam.
Rousey's recent comments against WWE are still a hot topic among fans and wrestlers. Corey Graves recently spoke with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Bill Apter for an exclusive interview. The SmackDown commentator shared his thoughts on the disparaging comments from The Baddest Woman on the Planet.
"I take everything with a grain of salt. Listen, if you're in this business for any duration, you get used to letting those sorts of things roll off your back. Everybody has a different experience in the WWE or in the wrestling business. Not everybody accomplishes what they set out to accomplish. Some people never expect to love it and fall madly in love with it," Corey Graves said. [From 2:35 to 2:56]
Rousey left the company as a one-time RAW Women's Champion, a two-time SmackDown Women's Champion, and a one-time Women's Tag Team Champion. The 2022 Royal Rumble winner is the company's 8th Women's Triple Crown Champion.
