It seems WWE and TNA are keeping their own "forbidden door" wide open this summer. Following on last weeks' surprises, there are reports of plans of more surprises for the wrestling world. Sources are now revealing what's next for a fan-favorite star who fans have begged for more of. A somewhat disappointing reaction to a big debut was also disclosed.

The WWE - TNA crossover continued on this week's NXT as Joe Hendry and Frankie Kazarian made their debuts in the show-opening 25-Man Battle Royal for a future shot at NXT Champion Trick Williams. Kazarian actually led the Battle Royal participants to the ring before the show began, while Hendry received his own spectacular entrance. Hendry was eliminated early, leading to explicit chants from fans, while Kazarian made it to the final four competitors.

The Global Hero was booked after WWE fans called on officials to bring him in for weeks. The word going around the company now is that the longest-reigning TNA Digital Media Champion is set to make more appearances for the Stamford-based promotion in the near future. Hendry even made a "believer" out of Shawn Michaels.

WWE officials were said to be "very happy" with the reactions Hendry has received. It was revealed earlier how The Answer proved to be a massive hit for WWE, out-drawing some top names in the company.

The Heavy Metal Rebel and Hendry have been feuding in TNA as of late, which saw Kazarian defeat the UK star in just over 7 minutes at Against All Odds last weekend. TNA sources were happy that the storyline continued on WWE NXT this week, while others said they wished the 26-year veteran would have been booked for a more extended appearance.

WWE NXT Heatwave updated plans

World Wrestling Entertainment's next NXT Premium Live Event is scheduled for Sunday, July 7, streaming on Peacock. Heatwave 2024 will air live from the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The only confirmed match for Heatwave as of writing is Je'Von Evans vs. NXT Champion Trick Williams. However, a major change is rumored to be made in the next week or so.

Next week's NXT episode will feature Sol Ruca vs. Arianna Grace in singles action. The winner is set to challenge inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion Kelani Jordan at Heatwave. Jordan won the title in a six-woman Ladder Match at NXT Battleground, and then retained over Mia Yim on this week's show in her first title defense.

The NXT Tag Team Championship will also be on the line at Heatwave amid concern for the champions. Next Tuesday's episode will feature a Tag Team Turmoil match, with the winners going on to Heatwave to challenge Axiom and Nathan Frazer for the titles.
