A recent report has shed light on WWE's plan for a major between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam 2024. However, fans could witness that only under one condition.

At Clash at the Castle 2024, The Second City Saint made a last-minute interference and cost The Scottish Warrior the World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest. In the aftermath, McIntyre appeared on Monday Night RAW, and said, "S***w this company, I quit," before leaving the building.

Previously it was reported that the 39-year-old star's exit from WWE is a work and part of the storyline. This means Drew McIntyre's comeback is bound to happen to eventually start a program with CM Punk ahead of SummerSlam 2024.

It is important to note that The Straight Edge Superstar is currently out of in-ring action due to a tricep injury. During Clash at the Castle post-show conference, Punk mentioned that he has not been medically cleared yet, but hopes to give an update to the WWE Universe on this week's Friday Night SmackDown.

According to the latest reports from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (WON), Drew McIntyre and CM Punk could clash at SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio only if the latter star is medically cleared.

The report also noted that WWE could have waited for another event, but maybe they want Punk to win the title eventually. Hence, The Scottish Warrior was not put over in his home country and The Second City Saint costing him the match made sense.

Non-WWE name wants to face CM Punk in the ring

TNA Wrestling star Joe Hendry recently expressed his desire to share the ring with The Best in the World in the future. Fans have already witnessed The Prestigious One appear on this week's NXT as a part of the crossover with TNA.

Speaking on the Gabby AF podcast, Hendry mentioned that he would like to wrestle CM Punk following the recent collaboration between WWE and TNA.

"I am going to throw out one other name: CM Punk. So, CM Punk and I didn't talk on the phone, but we have spoken, and I told him, 'I admire his work, and I hope that we cross paths one day,'" he said.

Fans will have to wait for McIntyre's potential return ahead of SummerSlam. Whether or not Punk confirms that he is good to go for in-ring action on SmackDown remains to be seen.
