A current WWE champion has reportedly inked a new deal with the Stamford-based promotion ahead of the upcoming edition of Friday Night SmackDown. The name in question is the newly crowned United States Champion, LA Knight.
The Megastar is one of the most beloved WWE Superstars. At the recently concluded SummerSlam Premium Live Event, Knight defeated Logan Paul to win his first-ever title since joining the main roster. The 41-year-old ended The Maverick's 273-day reign as the United States Champion at The Biggest Party of The Summer.
According to a recent report from Fightful Select, LA Knight has extended his contract with WWE after months of negotiation. The Sports Entertainment juggernaut has reportedly given The Megastar a much-deserved pay increase via a multi-year new contract. His current deal with the Stamford-based company was scheduled to end in early 2025.
Knight's rival, Logan Paul, has only made sporadic appearances on television since he joined the wrestling promotion. Despite holding the United States Championship for nearly nine months, The Maverick defended the title only three times. LA Knight dethroning the social media sensation will allow the championship to be featured on television more often.
Considering he just signed a new deal, The Megastar is likely to have a lengthy reign as US Champion. It will be interesting to see which star steps up for LA Knight's maiden title defense.
