WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart made a massive return to television in front of his home crowd, in Calgary, Canada last night. A recent report has now revealed how the confrontation between The Hitman and Triple H went, despite their well-documented history of tension.
The Game is a 14-time World Champion, a three-time Tag Team Champion, a two-time European Champion, and a five-time Intercontinental Champion. Hart felt betrayed by WWE for the infamous 1997 Montreal Screwjob and has often expressed resentment towards those involved, including Triple H who was instrumental in the decision.
Decades have passed since the incident and Hart has appeared on WWE programming several times in recent years. Last night on RAW, The Hitman returned to the company under Paul Levesque's leadership. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Bret Hart and Triple H, despite their long-standing rivalry, displayed a professional and respectful demeanor backstage at the red brand.
According to the veteran journalist, The Game, in his current role as head of creative, ensured that The Hitman was treated with courtesy and respect. This is a reflection of the company's commitment to maintaining a positive public image.
"Triple H was very nice to Bret (Hart) from what I heard. Historically they don’t like each other, both of them. But it’s business and Triple H is running things and they don’t want to insult Bret. They have to show respect to Bret so everybody was nice to everybody." (H/T: WrestleTalk)
Bret Hart humbled reigning WWE World Champion on RAW
The 67-year-old Canadian legend was interrupted by the reigning World Heavyweight Champion Gunther during his appearance on RAW
The Ring General taunted Bret Hart, claiming Bill Goldberg was his all-time favorite wrestler. The veteran, however, responded by mocking Gunther, calling him a "yellow coward."
The segment ended with Sami Zayn intervening and taking out the 37-year-old world champion. As of now, The Imperium member has not officially agreed to face Sami for the World Heavyweight Title. It remains to be seen if the two WWE Superstars clash for the championship at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event.
