WWE recently entered into contract negotiations with Finn Balor. New details about the 23-year veteran's contract renewal have just come to the fore following a pre-RAW statement.
The Prince was one of the most accomplished international wrestlers when he signed with World Wrestling Entertainment on May 15, 2014. Balor went on to become the inaugural Universal Champion and has held gold for the company on eight other occasions. The nine-time NJPW champion took to Instagram before tonight's RAW and announced that he was staying with the company. He thanked WWE for the past 10 years and said he was not going anywhere after much thought and consideration, but he did not elaborate on a new contract.
It was first reported in January how Balor's contract was set to expire "within a few months" after WrestleMania XL, indicating that he re-signed well before the expiration date. Now a new report from Fightful Select noted that word on Balor being expected to stay with WWE began making the rounds today.
The early word from backstage also said the 42-year-old was expected to sign a long-term contract extension if he had not already put ink to paper. The pre-RAW Instagram post appears to confirm the rumors. It was reiterated that Balor's previous contract was to expire within the next couple of months.

Backstage sources also indicated that officials were looking to sign The Judgment Day member to a "multi-year, big money offer," but no actual terms were provided.
AEW was reportedly keeping an eye on Finn Balor's WWE contract situation
It was reported last year that 2024 would be a huge year for free agents in pro wrestling, perhaps the biggest ever. WWE and AEW both had top stars with contracts coming up this year, including names like Seth Rollins, Becky Lynch, MJF, and Matt Hardy, among others.
Finn Balor's WWE contract was set to expire in a few months, but all signs point to the two sides agreeing on an extension. A new report from Fightful Select noted that WWE officials expected the multi-time champion to have major interest from outside of the company.
It was noted that specifically, AEW was looking to sign potential free agents this summer. Balor's name was on a list of wrestlers that Tony Khan and his AEW officials were keeping an eye on.
Balor is a top performer in the industry and has a ton of experience having wrestled on various promotions over the years. It will be interesting to watch what the future holds for the star.
