If recent reports are to be believed, a huge match The Rock was rumored to have in WWE is no longer happening. Over the last few months, The Final Boss was expected to have a dream showdown with Cody Rhodes at this year's WrestleMania 41, though that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

The Hollywood megastar appeared on RAW's Netflix debut this week, where he let go of his Final Boss persona. He hugged Cody Rhodes on live TV, leaving fans confused about what plans WWE had for him as we inch closer to 'Mania 41. Furthermore, The Rock bestowed Roman Reigns with the Ula Fala after the latter defeated Solo Sikoa, ruling out a potential match between the cousins.

On the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE no longer intends for The Brahma Bull to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41. However, no reason was mentioned as to why the Stamford-based promotion scrapped the plans for the blockbuster encounter.

For those unaware, The Rock had teased facing the Undisputed WWE Champion in the future on the post-WrestleMania 40 episode of RAW.

Stevie Richards wasn't impressed with The Rock giving a shoutout to Cody Rhodes on RAW

On a recent episode of The Stevie Richards podcast, the former WWE star shared his disdain for Cody sitting in the crowd during The Final Boss' promo. Richards stated that it made little sense for a star of The American Nightmare's magnitude to be sitting among the fans during a promo segment.

"I was like, 'This looks like The Rock granting a wish to a sick kid live on RAW.' [...] I think everybody who's a full-time roster member should not ever sit in the crowd unless Cody was out there for the entire night which also could be distracting for the matches to get into the ring to fight Kevin Owens. But they had him out there, and then they shuffled him to the back empty seats once again, as you said, to have his music hit. Why were you even in the crowd to begin with? That just looked like a setup segment."

It remains to be seen if WWE still has any plans for The Rock at WrestleMania 41 or if his acting commitments will force him to miss the show.
