Drew McIntyre has been away from WWE TV since WrestleMania 39. On the second night of the PLE, the WWE Universe witnessed the Scottish Warrior contest for Gunther's Intercontinental Championship in a Triple Threat match along with Sheamus in a losing effort.
Since his hiatus, McIntyre was rumored to be unhappy about his character development. The former WWE Champion felt that he had been sidelined after pulling the company through the COVID era as the champion.
The Scottish Warrior reached the pinnacle of the company when COVID broke out, and the company was forced to hold shows in the Thunderdome. During that time, McIntyre won the 2020 Royal Rumble, eliminating six superstars, including Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns.
After winning the Royal Rumble match, McIntyre headlined WrestleMania 36, defeating Brock Lesnar and winning his first WWE Championship. However, he had little time to celebrate as he was challenged to an impromptu title match by the Big Show, which Drew won.
Since Roman Reigns' return and his long Championship reign, Drew McIntyre seems to be lost in the shuffle. He has reportedly aired his issue with WWE, and both parties were working towards bridging the gap. Now, a report by Xero News states that the WWE Universe may see the Scottish Psychopath return on RAW tonight.
Will Drew McIntyre be a part of the World Heavyweight Championship tournament?
Last night, WWE announced the superstars that would compete in the World Heavyweight Championship tournament. The list included 12 WWE Superstars, but McIntyre did not make the cut.
McIntyre's presence on RAW sets up many matches for him. He could reignite his feud with Gunther and get a one-on-one match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. While there are no definite rivalries reported for him, the Scottish Warrior will be looking for a fight on the red brand.
