WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg will hang up his wrestling boots this year. Ahead of the 2024 Crown Jewel, the wrestling veteran announced a return to the squared circle for his retirement match in 2025. A recent report suggests the contest could happen at WrestleMania 41 against a current champion.

The 58-year-old attended WWE Bad Blood with his family. As Triple H unveiled the Crown Jewel Championships for both men and women, the World Heavyweight Champion Gunther entered the ring and started mocking Bill. In response, the legend jumped over the barricade only to be stopped by security personnel.

There have been rumors about a potential match between the two stars since the premium live event. In the most recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that the highly anticipated contest would likely be a non-title match. It was further reported that although the wrestling promotion had not mentioned anything, the bout happening at WrestleMania 41 would make perfect sense.

Wrestling veteran believes it is hard to predict the winner of the potential Gunther vs. Goldberg WWE match

Former WWE manager Dutch Mantell recently explained why predicting the winner of the rumored match between Bill Goldberg and Gunther is difficult.

During a recent episode of Smack Talk, the wrestling veteran pointed out that while the former WWE Universal Champion's loss would not benefit him, a win would also not provide any value to the Stamford-based company. The 75-year-old added he was completely invested in the contest as it could go either way.

"Let me ask you this. Who goes over between Gunther and Goldberg? But I don't think he has anything to bolster his claim that he needs to go over. Him going over doesn't benefit WWE at all. Does it? If he loses, that doesn't help him at all, and if Goldberg loses, WWE gains, but what would they do then? I don't know. I bought a ticket to it now. I don't know which way it's going to go. The interest is there, buddy," he said. [From 58:51 onwards]

Gunther's most recent televised match was at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, where he successfully defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest and Finn Balor in a Triple Threat match. It will be interesting to see if he goes one-on-one with Bill Goldberg in the latter's final wrestling match.
