The season premiere of WWE SmackDown is already a loaded episode with John Cena, Roman Reigns, and Triple H set to make appearances on the blue brand. However, if a new report is to be believed, the special edition could also see a major name make their WWE debut.
The name in question is Nick Aldis. The former NWA World Champion has been working as a producer for the Stamford-based promotion since August. He has also wrestled in a few matches during this time, with his last one coming earlier this month for an Independent promotion.
According to a new report from PWInsider, the 36-year-old is all set to make his WWE on-screen debut on tonight's SmackDown. The news source added that Aldis will be portraying an authority figure for the Smackdown brand going forward.
So far, only Adam Pearce has been playing the on-screen authority role. Sonya Deville also worked as an official for some time, but she later returned as a full-time wrestler.
With Triple H set to make an appearance on the blue brand tonight, it is likely that The Game will be officially announcing Nick Aldis' signing. The former NWA World Champion's debut could also mean that Pearce will be exclusive to Monday Night RAW.
