WWE reportedly toned down a major spot during a recent match, as it brought up memories of Big E's injury. The former WWE Champion has been sidelined with a neck injury for more than two years now and is yet to be cleared for an in-ring return.

Although the news surrounding Big E right now has more to do with his recent exit from The New Day, it's hard to forget the harrowing injury he suffered back in March 2022. A botched belly-to-belly suplex from Ridge Holland saw the 38-year-old suffer a cervical fracture of the spine.

It is now two years removed from the incident, and WWE has seemingly not forgotten it. So much so that according to reports from Fightful Select, the company chose to significantly tone down a spot in the recent NXT Deadline match between Trick Williams and Ridge Holland, as it was reminiscent of E's injury.

Throughout the feud between Holland and Williams, the former made it a point to target the latter's neck. With that in mind, the spot in question was another attempted belly-to-belly suplex from Holland near the announcer's desk, but Trick quickly broke away.

Should the move have been successful, it would have been eerily similar to what Ridge did two years ago.

The WWE Universe has turned on The New Day for abandoning Big E

As mentioned earlier, right now, all the news surrounding Big E has to do with his exit from The New Day. Celebrating their 10th anniversary on RAW, the duo of Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods turned heel and ostracized their former friend. It was a devastating moment, both for E and the WWE Universe.

Once a beloved group that many believed could do no wrong, The New Day now finds itself in a situation similar to what it faced when it first formed. The entirety of the WWE Universe is against them. From the fans to some of the superstars backstage, nobody wants to have anything to do with the 12-time tag team champions.

With the chants changing from "New Day rocks" to "New Day s*cks," it's clearly been a situation that neither Woods nor Kofi saw coming. Regardless, it will be interesting to see where this storyline goes from here.
