There have been some major updates regarding CM Punk and Drew McIntyre's potential upcoming match at the SummerSlam Premium Live Event. The duo have been involved in a feud for a long time now.
At the Money in the Bank PLE, McIntyre was initially attacked by Jey Uso and LA Knight and was thrown out of the ring. The brawl began with all the participants going out of their way to grab the briefcase. After a hard-hitting brawl, Jey attempted to climb the ladder but McIntyre made sure nothing came in his way and took away the briefcase for himself after hitting a Claymore on Jey.
Later in the night, The Scottish Warrior cashed in on the World Heavyweight Title bout between Damian Priest and Seth Rollins' match, turning it into a Triple Threat bout. While McIntyre was trying to secure victory, his arch-rival Punk came out and attacked him with a steel chair and even hit him on the head with the title. This action by Punk allowed Priest to take advantage and hit his opponent with the South of Heaven Chokeslam, thus picking up the victory.
Following the bout, Dave Meltzer reported that there has been news of CM Punk facing Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam 2024. Although it is not yet confirmed, there are reportedly high chances of the match taking place at the event.

"Right now, it is not one hundred percent as far as (CM) Punk vs. Drew (McIntyre) at SummerSlam, but I was told that it is probable. I was pretty much told that they're pretty confident in it but they can't go and say one hundred percent because it isn't one hundred percent. It's been the hope, but it's now more than a hope, now it's a plan." (H/T - WrestleTalk)
Matt Camp had predicted Drew McIntyre's MITB win prior to the event
Matt Camp had previously shared his ideas on how Drew McIntyre and CM Punk's storyline should proceed at the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event.
While speaking on an episode of his The Wrestling Matt podcast, Camp had stated that it would be interesting if The Scottish Warrior secured victory in the Men's Money in the Bank ladder match, and then Punk could either cost him his cash in or beat him in a bout.
He further detailed:
"I do kinda like the idea of Drew [McIntyre] winning the briefcase. And then [CM] Punk could mess with that later, whether he wins it from him or he costs the cash in. What if Punk doesn't get involved with Drew winning the briefcase, and we're all waiting for it to happen, but he screws up the cash in instead, especially if they go to the cash in quickly?" Looking at how Punk actually ended up costing Drew McIntyre his cash-in at the event, it would be quite exhilarating to witness how their storyline moves forward.
