A recent report has shed light on The Street Profits' WWE future following recent comments made by Montez Ford teasing parting ways with his tag team partner Angelo Dawkins. The 34-year-old also expressed his frustration over failing to win the tag team championship.
The Street Profits challenged Motor City Machine Guns for the WWE Tag Team Championship at the latest edition of Friday Night SmackDown. However, the match ended in No contest as #DIY's Tommaso Ciampa showed up and attacked Ford and Dawkins.
According to a recent report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, The Street Profits are not leaving the wrestling promotion, and the recent statements were only to garner attention. It was further revealed that Ford has also been working on some projects outside the company.
"In regard to questions some readers have had about the status of The Street Profits after comments were made on social media about their unhappiness, the team are currently locked into deals with WWE, and it's likely the statements were to garner attention more than anything else. We are told that Montez Ford has been working on some outside projects of late [he's among the troupe of WWE talents now signed with Paradigm as part of their Sports division], but beyond that we are told there's no belief internally that he or Angelo Dawkins are exiting," Mike Johnson noted.
Wrestling veteran believes WWE has pushed back The Street Profits' Montez Ford's push
Former wrestling manager Duth Mantell recently accused the Stamford-based company of halting Montez Ford's progress by not pushing him.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's Wrestling's Smack Talk, Mantel stated that the wrestling promotion unintentionally held Ford back. The veteran added that the latter was a crowd favorite, but WWE did not pull the trigger, and the SmackDown Superstar no longer has the momentum he did a year ago.
"What they have done, they've almost held back the turn of Montez Ford so long, I think they kinda hurt him unintentionally. I think instead of, you know pulling the trigger on him and letting him go, they kept saying 'eh, I don't know,' which is actually worse than not doing anything. Because you wear the people down just by the time you spend doing nothing with 'em. I don't think they're anywhere near as heated up as he were, say a year ago," he said. [14:13 onwards]

The Street Profits have not won a title since January 2021, when they lost the SmackDown Tag Team Championship to Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode. It remains to be seen if Ford and Dawkins will win another title.
