A popular ex-WWE Tag Team was spotted backstage at two major AEW shows recently. No deal has been signed yet, but rumors suggest they could be in talks about a deal with ROH.
As fans know, in addition to All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan also owns Ring of Honor. According to a report from Fightful Select, former WWE tag team Mace and Mansoor has been backstage for AEW Collision and Dynamite - with talks over a Ring of Honor appearance.
Fightful Select reported on June 16 that former WWE stars MxM—Mace and Mansoor were backstage at AEW Collision's one-year anniversary. However, the new report went more into detail. It stated that MxM has been speaking with AEW/ROH recently.
Sean Ross Sapp noted that while it's not definite, the duo have been in talks for a Ring of Honor appearance, with no deal signed yet. There is supposedly material in place should an ROH appearance occur.
Former WWE star Mansoor previously gave his thoughts on signing with AEW
Mansoor and Mace have been traveling the world, making tours in Japan, and having a great time. They seem to be embracing life outside of the sports entertainment juggernaut.
Speaking to Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Mansoor explained why he's grateful to Tony Khan and is open to signing with AEW:
"Sure. I love AEW. Primarily because I have a lot of really close friends who don't work at WWE anymore and their families are fed and taken care of because of AEW and Tony Khan and their team. So, for that, I will always be eternally grateful, especially, for the people who got let go during the pandemic. I mean, there are people who would've been deported. I mean, there are people who would have had to leave America if it were not for the fact they got a work visa. In some cases AEW. In some cases IMPACT," he said.
It's certainly a blessing that wrestlers have multiple options for earning a living. There have been several cases of superstars like Cody Rhodes and Zack Ryder (Matt Cardona) earning more money after leaving the biggest wrestling company in the world.
