Pat McAfee was absent on the June 24 episode of WWE RAW in Indianapolis, Indiana. The NFL veteran not being there was surprising considering that he lives in the city and even hosts his popular show there.

Some people thought that the absence was storyline-related since Wyatt Sicks seemingly hacked The Pat McAfee Show on Monday. He was unable to make it to work, making some fans worry about his status considering what happened last week.

Michael Cole called most of the show and received some help from The Miz. When Abby the Witch handed a tape to Cole later in the show, it was seemingly addressed to McAfee.

According to Wade Keller of PW Torch, McAfee's absence was not storyline-related and was due to a "legitimate last-second family emergency." However, the 37-year-old has not announced anything on his social media accounts. Keller also pointed out that the absence could later be written into the storyline if WWE wanted it.

McAfee played for the Indianapolis Colts throughout his NFL career and started his talk show there. He was even excited about the city partnering with WWE to host Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam.

Pat McAfee returned to WWE as a full-time commentator in January

Pat McAfee took a hiatus from WWE in September 2022 when he joined ESPN's College GameDay. McAfee sporadically made surprise appearances before returning on the January 29 episode of RAW earlier this year.

The former NFL punter partnered with Michael Cole to lead the red brand. Monday's absence was his first since returning.

In addition to his work with WWE, McAfee has also signed a deal with ESPN. But ahead of the 2024 College Football season, the two sides have not reached an agreement about him being the lead analyst for College GameDay.

One of the reasons why McAfee has not signed a deal is seemingly due to a poll conducted by The Athletic. 48.9 percent of over 3,000 respondents were not happy about him covering College Football, while only 30.1 percent liked him in the role.
