#2 WWE Chairman Vince McMahon reportedly made a last-minute change to Backlash finish
We saw Nia Jax take on RAW Women's Champion Asuka for her title at Backlash. The match ended in a double count-out leading to Asuka retaining the Championship. However, as per Bryan Alvarez of The Observer, that was not the original finish WWE had planned.
As per the original plans, Asuka was meant to pin Nia Jax to retain her Championship. However, Vince McMahon made last-minute changes to the match and changed the finish.
Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.
The impression that I’ve been given…I believe that the original finish was Asuka was gonna pin Nia and for whatever reason, they decided I guess on the day of the show to do a double count-out instead.
One reason for the change in plans could be that Vince McMahon is trying to protect Nia Jax and doesn't want her to take clean pins. Another reason could simply be that a double count-out would help prolong the feud between the two women.
Some reports have suggested that Charlotte Flair is next in line to face Asuka, in which case a double count-out finish doesn't make any sense. We'll have to wait and see how the RAW Women's Championship scene takes shape going forward.
