#1. Exclusive details on Drake Maverick's re-signing with WWE
Drake Maverick was handed a new WWE contract at the end of the most recent NXT episode by Triple H. Even though he couldn't capture the Cruiserweight title, the former 205 Live General Manager completed a satisfying feel-good story.
Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue revealed many details about Maverick's new contract in an exclusive report.
The original plan, as of April 15th, was to book Maverick to lose many matches and act as an enhancement talent in the Cruiserweight Championship tournament. The plan was to give Kushida a significant push in the tournament. However, the situation changed after Maverick began to get the fans' overwhelming support following the emotional video he released after his WWE release.
Tom noted that as fan support grew, WWE altered the bracket, and at the same time, they offered Maverick a new contract. WWE reportedly offered Maverick a new deal two weeks back and the Superstar will make less money than his previous deal.
WWE has also reportedly offered deals to several other released talents deals to return to the company. However, as of this writing, Drake Maverick is the only talent who has been officially re-signed. WWE has not offered deals to released stars from NXT but Drake Maverick's signing on the Black and Gold brand is an exception to the rule.
