#3. Elias could reportedly be out for several months due to a real injury
Elias was the unfortunate victim in the hit-and-run incident from last week's episode of SmackDown in which Jeff Hardy was accused of being the culprit. The authorities cleared Hardy in the storyline and the Charismatic Enigma explained his side of the story on this week's edition of SmackDown.
WWE noted that Elias had suffered broken ribs and a torn pectoral muscle in its storyline injury update and The Drifter could potentially be out for several months.
However, the storyline injury is actually a cover for a real injury. As reported by Dave Meltzer, Elias really has a torn pectoral muscle and he is expected to miss in-ring action for several months.
Meltzer's report was also confirmed by POST Wrestling:
Elias is out of action with a torn pectoral muscle, POST Wrestling has learned from multiple sources with the angle shot to write him off of television while he recovers. It is not known when he suffered the injury.
WWE used the hit-and-run angle to write off Elias from TV and set up a Backlash match between Jeff Hardy and Sheamus.
Regarding Elias' injury, there is currently no definite timeline about his recovery and return, but we should not expect to see The Drifter in action for at least the next few months.
