This week's episode of WWE SmackDown is a historic one and will mark the end of an era after 25 years. Tonight's edition of the blue brand will air live from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
According to a new update from WrestleVotes on social media, tonight's edition of the blue brand will be the final two-hour show before SmackDown moves to a three-hour format on the USA Network next week. SmackDown debuted on Friday nights as a two-hour show on April 29, 1999.
WrestleVotes also disclosed that there was a major Six-Woman Tag Team Match scheduled for tonight's show. Nia Jax, Candice LeRae, and Tiffany Stratton will be teaming up to battle Bianca Belair, Naomi, and Bayley during the upcoming episode of WWE SmackDown. Chelsea Green is also scheduled for a championship celebration.
"Tonight marks the final two-hour #SmackDown for the foreseeable future. Scheduled for the show is a 6-Woman Tag Team Match: Bianca Belair, Naomi and Bayley vs. Nia Jax, Tiffany Stratton and Candice LeRae. Also, Chelsea Green’s US title celebration is set to take place," reported WrestleVotes.
Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill were the reigning Women's Tag Team Champions. However, Cargill was the victim of an attack by a mystery assailant last month and has been replaced by Naomi. The EST and The Glow successfully defended the titles against Cancide LeRae and Nia Jax earlier this month on WWE SmackDown.
Dr. Chris Featherstone suggests an interesting Money in the Bank cash-in for WWE SmackDown star
Wrestling analyst Dr. Chris Featherstone recently pitched an interesting idea for Tiffany Stratton's Money in the Bank cash-in.
Stratton won the Women's MITB Ladder match earlier this year and can cash in for a title match at a time and place of her choosing for a whole year. Speaking on Sportkeeda Wrestling's UnSKripted, Featherstone pitched an interesting idea for The Buff Barbie's Money in the Bank cash-in.
He suggested that the SmackDown Superstar could "cash in to compete" for the title at WrestleMania 41. It would also be something that hadn't been done before despite two regular cash-ins at The Show of Shows.
"Nia Jax basically cutting a promo after Royal Rumble saying, 'You know there is a reason why they didn't pick me because no one can stop me.' And all of a sudden Tiffany Stratton looks at her briefcase, you know, fans are just saying Tiffy Time, Tiffy Time, and all of a sudden she is like, 'I think I can do it now.' [...] I don't think there has ever been a cash-in to compete at WrestleMania. There's been two cash-ins at WrestleMania, but there has never been a cash-in to compete at WrestleMania," he said.
