Drew McIntyre has been out of action since Bad Blood 2024, and many fans have been anticipating what WWE has in store for The Scottish Warrior following his feud of the year with CM Punk. A new report has suggested the Triple H-led creative team is interested in bringing back a retired star after eight years to feud with the RAW Superstar.
On WrestleVotes Radio exclusively on Backstage Pass, JoeyVotes and TC briefly discussed Drew McIntyre. WWE seems to be interested in bringing back a major name for a short-term feud. That name is Wade Barrett, who is currently the voice of RAW along with Joe Tessitore.
JoeyVotes said that while there's no interest in Wade Barrett returning full-time, backstage sources have stated that there is interest in the former Nexus leader returning to the ring after over eight years to feud with Drew McIntyre. Wade last competed inside the squared circle on the April 4, 2016, edition of RAW.
This would, of course, be a short-term feud. Barrett is seemingly in good shape, and WWE has had a few moments this year that have planted the seeds for a possible future feud.

Injury is not the reason why Drew McIntyre has been absent
The Scottish Warrior went to war at Bad Blood against CM Punk, getting busted open and enduring a lot of damage in his defeat inside the Hell in a Cell. Understandably, he has received some deserved time off after having the best run of his career since late 2023.
According to Fightful, McIntyre has experienced some personal losses in recent months. Hence, the former World Heavyweight Champion has been spending time with his family in Europe. However, it was noted that the leave of absence post-Bad Blood was planned anyway. There's no word on when he's going to be back.
Sportskeeda Wrestling will continue to provide updates on the Scottish star's impending return. We wish him and his family the best during these difficult times.
