WWE reportedly has unique plans for Gunther following Saturday Night's Main Event

Gunther is scheduled to put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line tonight, but WWE may also have major plans for him moving forward. The Ring General will defend his title tonight at Saturday Night's Main Event against Finn Balor and Damian Priest in a Triple Threat match.

According to Sportskeeda Wrestling's Dr. Chris Featherstone, the promotion may have major plans for the leader of Imperium following Saturday Night's Main Event. Featherstone noted a Steel Cage match "brewing" for the World Heavyweight Champion, and fans should tune into tonight's show for more details.

"Cage match for the World Heavyweight Championship brewing for Gunther. Lock in to #SNME for details," he wrote.

The 37-year-old captured the World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Damian Priest at SummerSlam earlier this year. Finn Balor betrayed his former Judgment Day stablemate during the match, costing him the title. Balor also interfered in The Archer of Infamy's match at Survivor Series last month and cost Priest the opportunity to capture the title once again.

Bill Apter claims Gunther is the most impactful star in WWE

Wrestling veteran Bill Apter recently named Gunther as the star who made the biggest impression in 2024.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Apter noted that it was difficult for him to select who was the best male WWE star of the year. The legend shared his thoughts on the leader of Imperium and praised his work as World Heavyweight Champion.

"That's a hard thing to say the best. I think the person that made the biggest impression on WWE coming from somewhere where you know... Would have to be Gunther. I mean, who saw that coming that he would become the World Heavyweight wrestling champion, and he carries himself like a World Heavyweight wrestling champion." [5:52 onwards]
