WWE is looking to expand SmackDown's timeslot, with a report of the three-hour shift previously being made on WrestleVotes Radio. The new report has given an update regarding a sudden change to the 3-hour plan for the blue brand in 2025.
It was previously reported that WWE would be following the three-hour format for SmackDown from mid-January to some point in May 2025. Why it's for a limited time period is not known as of this time.
On WrestleVotes Radio on Backstage Pass this week, JoeyVotes and TC gave an update on the situation. Right now, it looks like RAW being three hours on Netflix is a done deal, and because of that, WWE could be moving the three-hour SmackDown run from mid-January to late January. Either way, it looks like four months of three-hour episodes of the blue brand will be happening.
What will be the fallout from Survivor Series on SmackDown?
The fallout from Survivor Series: WarGames on the blue brand will be incredible to watch. For one, Jey Uso and Sami Zayn appear to be back on SmackDown, with Drew McIntyre targeting both men upon his return to make a statement.
This may lead to a little overlap between Sami Zayn and Jey Uso's stories on both brands. Considering how RAW on Netflix in January will feature Roman Reigns, we might see the storyline overlapping from one brand to the other.
It's going to be interesting to see if Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso will be on their own against The new Bloodline - who still outnumber them despite the WarGames loss. CM Punk's role with The Bloodline was brief and impactful, but he is a RAW star.
Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens will be the focal point of the blue brand for the 6th and 13th December episodes of the show as the Undisputed WWE Championship match is expected to headline Saturday Night's Main Event.
We will see the resurgence of Shinsuke Nakamura as the new United States Champion while the tournament to crown the new Women's US Champion wages on.
