What’s the story?
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, with John Cena now being designated as a part-time wrestler, Roman Reigns is selling more merchandise than any other full-time performer in the WWE.
In case you didn’t know?
In the last decade, John Cena was constantly on top of the merchandise sales, with him having sold the most merch by a full-time wrestler in the WWE.
However, with high merchandise selling Superstars such as Cena and Brock Lesnar being part time wrestlers on the roster, the WWE needed a strong presence to lead the merchandise sales in the locker room and Roman Reigns, it appears, has now cemented himself at the top of that mountain as such.
The heart of the matter
Roman Reigns’ is one of WWE’s top babyfaces right now, his character and booking have been like that of a face and as a result, his legion of fans continues to be growing.

Despite a major section of the WWE audience vehemently voicing their opinion against him, Reigns continues to be popular with the women and children of the WWE Universe. Reigns has a strong social media presence as well, with over 2.19 Million followers on Twitter and over 17 Million likes on his Facebook page.
Roman Reigns has over 43 items on the WWE shop currently, including shirts, bags etc.
What’s next?
With John Cena now being a part-timer, Roman doesn’t have a serious threat from any other wrestler in terms of merchandise sales. Even if John Cena decides to spend an entire year in the WWE, his absence from Raw gives Roman a whole lot of space to increase his fanbase.
Author’s Take
Roman Reigns is a gifted performer in the ring, however, his mic skills restrict him from achieving the kind of success that John Cena has.
However, since he’s selling the most amount of merchandise in the locker room, his push is only going to grow by the week. Maybe we should expect a whole lot more of Roman Reigns post-WrestleMania 33.
