As the road to Wrestlemania gets closer, WWE is pulling out every trick in the book to make it a memorable one.
The return of the “Deadman” and the return of the Royal Rumble back to the Alamodome are some of the steps that the WWE have taken so far. WWE have also confirmed that Brock Lesnar and Goldberg would be taking part in the Royal Rumble match itself.
One thing which remains uncertain amidst all of this is the return of the hometown hero, “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Micheals.

According to Dave Meltzer, the latest plans for Micheals are apparently to make him a “special ring enforcer” for one of the show’s major matches, As of now the match where Micheals will play a role in has not been revealed. Meltzer stated:
“He’s been real adamant to everyone that he doesn’t want to wrestle again. As far as being on the [Royal Rumble] show in some form, I think that there’s a good chance of that.
If it’s me, and it’s San Antonio, and, he grew up there, I would try to figure out a way for him to be on the show.
Obviously, wrestlers always change their mind, but even a couple of months ago, I know people who talked to him, and he does not want to ever wrestle again.”

It was earlier reported that Micheals might come out of his retirement to face AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble after AJ Styles had posted a tweet containing a fan made fantasy poster.
It seemed that Micheals was one step closer to his in-ring return after he was appointed as the coach of the company’s performance centre in Florida, but that was not the case as Micheals wants to stay true to his retirement.
Ever since WWE made the official announcement of Royal Rumble’s return back to the Alamodome, several rumours pointed that the WWE was planning to reach out to some of the Texas wrestling legends for appearances at the Royal Rumble.
Yet another wrestler who is rumoured to appear at the Royal Rumble is “The Texas Rattlesnake” Stone Cold Steve Austin who will undertake a backstage role at the event. Several sources suggest that he might be a “Guest Referee” much like he was at the Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg clash at Wrestlemania 20.
With the returns of these legends along with a highly intriguing and unpredictable Rumble match, the coming edition of Royal Rumble is sure to gift us some exhilarating moments before we proceed to Wrestlemania.
