At WrestleMania 40, Sami Zayn defied the odds by beating Gunther to win the Intercontinental Championship. By beating the Austrian, not only did Zayn end one of the greatest IC Title runs, but he also started a new era. However, this new era Zayn started could end at SummerSlam.

At the upcoming premium live event, WWE could write Sami Zayn off the television so that he can fulfill a greater purpose later on. On August 3rd, 2024, WWE could book Zayn to defend his Intercontinental Championship in a Triple-Threat match against Bron Breakker and Ilja Dragunov.

In this match, the promotion could book Zayn to take a lot of offense from Breakker and Dragunov, which could lead to the Canadian getting injured and dropping the title to Breakker. Due to his injury, Zayn could be written off TV and the Intercontinental Title feud could continue between Breakker and Dragunov.

Doing something like this would allow Sami Zayn to be part of a bigger picture as he could later return on SmackDown and help Roman Reigns take out the Solo Sikoa-led Bloodline. For those who forgot, Zayn was a pivotal part of The Bloodline led by Reigns.

Sami Zayn recently reacted to hitting a major milestone in his wrestling career

When Sami Zayn beat Gunther at WrestleMania 40, that victory in itself was a major milestone for the Canadian. After all, Zayn ended the longest-reigning Intercontinental Championship reign in WWE history. However, recently, Zayn hit another milestone in WWE.

Some time ago, the Canadian superstar hit 95 days as Intercontinental Champion. This stat is significant because this 95-day mark meant Zayn achieved his longest singles title run in WWE. After achieving this milestone, Zayn reacted to it with a post on social media platform X (fka Twitter).

Sami Zayn seemed very happy about achieving the milestone and also expressed his gratitude. The Intercontinental Champion wrote:

"Very proud of this time in my career. It’s been a really great run, thanks for the support."

You can check out what Zayn wrote about achieving the milestone in the post below:

Since winning the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40, Zayn has defended his title on six occasions. In all his title defenses, Zayn has fought with immense passion, which has entertained fans. In the coming weeks, it will be interesting to see how long Zayn can keep his title keeping in mind the superstars who are set to challenge him.
