Drew McIntyre had a big weekend in Canada by becoming Mr. Money in the Bank, but his plans were quickly crushed by CM Punk. While many weren't the happiest with the decision, it only makes sense and plays into the bigger picture for his future feud.

At WWE Money in the Bank 2024, Drew McIntyre emerged victorious against LA Knight, Jey Uso, Andrade, Chad Gable, and Carmelo Hayes to be this year's contract holder. During Damian Priest vs Seth Rollins later that night, The Scottish Warrior cashed in his contract to turn it into a triple threat, but CM Punk foiled his plans to be World Heavyweight Champion once again.

For this list, we will look at three reasons why Drew McIntyre's failed cash-in at WWE Money in the Bank was best for business.

#3. Drew McIntyre already revealed his plans for WWE Money in the Bank

On a Monday Night RAW episode before the Canada premium live event, Drew McIntyre vowed to be this year's Mr. Money in the Bank and walk out of the event as the champion. He most possibly said this to alert his opponents, but it was also a way for CM Punk to know his rival's plans.

Looking back, it wasn't just Punk's fault for Drew's failed cash-in, but the latter himself. Due to his overconfidence in announcing his plans, Punk knew when to target him the best. The absent star gave him false hope by not interfering during the ladder match but took all of Drew's hope away by interfering during his cash-in instead.

#2. Drew McIntyre's failed cash-in gave way for Seth Rollins to enter the story

It was previously revealed that CM Punk vs Seth Rollins was initially planned for WrestleMania 40 before The Architect got injured. Although this was the feud many fans wanted to see, Punk vs McIntyre's is gaining more traction. However, the events last weekend could have been a way for The Visionary to enter their feud.

After the World Heavyweight Championship match in Canada, Seth was visibly upset over Punk's actions, which affected him as well. Not only did he fail to reclaim the title, but he will no longer be able to compete for it again as long as Damian is still champion. In this way, WWE can also have an angle for a triple threat between the three men at WrestleMania 41.

#1. Gives room for current champions to function with their own storylines without Mr. Money in the Bank

If there were a current Mr. Money in the Bank this year, Cody Rhodes and Damian Priest would have to keep looking over their shoulder about the added pressure. However, not having one can help them have a smooth-sailing feud.

Now that there is no Mr. Money in the Bank lurking, the storylines for Cody and Damian in the coming months will only be focused on their own rivals. On the other hand, this will also keep McIntyre engaged with his own rival in Punk.
