CM Punk kicked off the latest edition of Monday Night RAW to explain his actions in the title match at Money in the Bank. At the premium live event, he interfered and cost Drew McIntyre another opportunity to become the World Heavyweight Champion.
McIntyre had cashed in his MITB briefcase, making it a Triple Threat Match against Seth Rollins and Damian Priest, but Punk's interference let The Archer of Infamy win the match and retain the championship. As The Best in the World explained why he targeted The Scottish Warrior again, Seth Rollins interrupted him and confronted him, accusing him of costing The Visionary the World Heavyweight Championship.
Even though CM Punk apologized, Seth Rollins made it clear that he would be out for revenge once Punk was medically cleared to compete.
This segment re-ignited the feud between the two megastars, and it is expected to intensify going forward. But when did it all start? Between 2012 and 2014, Punk and Rollins faced each other multiple times, mostly in tag team matches. Punk left in 2014 and spent the next few years calling out WWE for the way they treated him.
In 2019, he made a special appearance on the WWE Backstage Show, where he talked about Rollins and called him a fool. Their feud moved to social media, and The Architect even challenged The Best in the World to a match.
Following Punk's turbulent stint with AEW, Rollins even went as far as calling him a 'cancer.' In November 2023, CM Punk made his triumphant return to WWE, and Seth Rollins was visibly upset about it.
Eight months later, it appears their feud has re-ignited, and it could lead to a match once Punk is done with Drew McIntyre. Rollins recently revealed why he didn't like Punk, saying that even though he thought Punk was willing to help the business evolve, he eventually proved to be selfish and only cared about himself.
With that in mind, it remains to be seen what their next chapter will be and whether it could lead to a match at SummerSlam should Punk be medically cleared to compete.
CM Punk wants Drew McIntyre's suspension to be lifted
Drew McIntyre was furious after what happened at the Money in the Bank title match and assaulted both officials and RAW General Manager Adam Pearce. Thus, he was fined and suspended indefinitely.
During the opening segment on RAW tonight, CM Punk said he wanted Adam Pearce to lift Drew's suspension so he could continue the feud with him.
It is unclear when this will happen, but with SummerSlam just three weeks away, fans could see Drew back soon should he face Punk in a match.
