Michaels stepped in the shoes of a referee to ensure that the streak of The Undertaker gets beaten at the hands of Triple H at WrestleMania XXVIII. However, he became an unbiased referee as the match went on and eventually awarded the match to The Phenom.

At WrestleMania 31, Michaels along with other members of D-Generation X came out to assist Triple H in his match against Sting. Their attempts were countered by the original New World Order who fought DX outside the ring.

At WrestleMania 32, League of Nations defeated The New Day and called themselves the best three-man team. Michaels, Mick Foley and Steve Austin then walked out and laid out League of Nations and then The New Day to crash the party.
