Barrett was a contestant on the first season of NXT when it was a competition show, as opposed to its own brand today. He would go on to win and earn a world championship opportunity, but the biggest effect of the win was his creation of The Nexus.
The heart of the matter...
Barrett made his first post-WWE wrestling appearance at What Culture Pro Wrestling’s No Regrets iPPV. He was the color commentator for the show and post the following tweet after the event:
In regards to the tour in Pakistan, Barrett would state in an interview that he is looking forward to some good wrestling over the next few days. He also mentioned that this was his first time in Pakistan.
What’s next?
As stated by the tweet below, the first night of action takes place tomorrow night in Karachi.
It is unknown if his return to pro wrestling means that Barrett signs with a major promotion sometime in 2017.
Author’s take...
It’s good to see Barrett back in the pro wrestling world. It was understandable that he wanted to take some time off from the business after being released from the WWE in 2015 after nearly 10 years in developmental and the main roster combined.
It appears that he left the WWE on good terms, so I hope that he returns to the company at some point. I believe he can succeed as a main event superstar within the company, and maybe another run as Bad News Barrett could get him to that point.
