Roman Reigns appears to be the dominant topic of conversation in the world of wrestling this week. And while we do have an interesting update for you on that friend, the rumour mill still has a lot more to offer, as usual.
From Randy Orton challenging old pal Batista to a WrestleMania match to the stipulation for the next AJ Styles-Shinsuke Nakamura clash, here are our top 5 rumours of the day:
#1 Randy Orton challenges Batista to WrestleMania match
Vince McMahon’s original plans called for Randy Orton to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 30. However, the fans made themselves heard, and Daniel Bryan was promptly inserted into the match.
The bout ended up being one to remember and served as the culmination of one of the greatest storylines since the Attitude Era. Well, it looks like Orton isn’t happy with the way things played out and wants to get his hands on Batista once again.
After watching Avengers for the second time, The Viper took to Twitter and playfully challenged his former Evolution stablemate to a WrestleMania match.
#2 Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe at Backlash was an eye-opener for Vince McMahon
According to Slice Wrestling, the number of fans walking out during the Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe served as an eye-opener for McMahon, who still values the New York/ New Jersey market more than any other.
#3 Big Cass in trouble?
Big Cass was specifically instructed by Vince McMahon not to brutally assault the Daniel Bryan impersonator in the build-up to Backlash, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet. However, Cass didn’t comply with instructions, meaning that Enzo Amore’s former tag team partner may be in hot water. This may be the reason why he missed the latest SmackDown Live.
#4 Styles and Nakamura to turn up the heat?
Most WWE fans have probably been disappointed by the AJ Styles-Shinsuke Nakamura rivalry thus far. Even though the King of Strong Style has come into his own as a heel and dramatically improved his character work, he and his former NJPW rival just haven’t been able to have a good match.
However, that may be set to change as the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is now suggesting that Styles and Nakamura could have a Last Man Standing Match.
#5 WWE will be featured at NBC's upfronts
According to a report from PWInsider, WWE will have a tangible presence at the NBC Upfronts in New York on May 14, 2018. The company will even reportedly set up a ring at the event. Several pundits are speculating that this may be a sign of NBC’s determination to strike a TV rights deal with the professional wrestling giant.
