A few short weeks ago there were rumors that WWE could be planning a third Money in the Bank ladder match after hints that the Tag Team Divison would be involved in the event next month, but it appears that these plans have changed.
Not only is there no longer going to be a Money in the Bank ladder match for the tag teams of WWE, but the company could be thinking of breaking up The New Day by giving one of the members of the trio a place in the ladder match for the World Title contract.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider recently talked about the Tag Team Division and revealed that he believes that WWE is now aware that the division isn't making them any money. (Transcript via RingSideNews)
“I think they have decided that nobody involved in the tag division is worth their time and they’re not going to invest into it because they don’t think it makes them any money. And that’s that.”
The Bludgeon Brothers haven't done a lot on WWE TV since they won their SmackDown Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania, whilst Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy are not actually part of a feud right now either. The Tag Team Championships weren't even on the line at Backlash earlier this month, which shows how little the company was invested in their Tag Team Division.
There are teams like Sanity who are still waiting to make their way up to the main roster after being announced as stars moving over to the SmackDown Brand in the Superstar Shakeup. Authors of Pain are also new additions to the Monday Night Raw brand but the duo has been overlooked ever since their arrival and are probably wishing they could go back to NXT at this point.
WWE is definitely having issues with their Tag Team Division right now, there was a time when The Usos and The New Day changed the face of the Division and now the women in WWE have taken the main stage alongside the mid-card Championships. It appears that WWE can't focus on more than one division at a time, which could be why the women are the focus right now and the Tag Team Division has been overlooked.
