Read on and leave a comment below, folks!
#1 Jimmy Uso discussed turning heel
The Usos were incredibly over when they were babyfaces. And then, they were paired with Roman Reigns. They began to get booed, and the boos stuck. The Usos desperately needed a change in character, and fast.
Jimmy Uso spoke to independent.co.uk about why they had to turn heel. This is what he said:
I think that was the people's call - the [fans] called that. When we were with Roman Reigns we were getting booed, but then the boos stayed with us. So, we were like 'Why are we coming out here trying to show our heritage and trying to high-five everybody if they don't like us?' For us it was a case of 'Well, we don't like you, either!
The Usos seem happy with the change in character. Jimmy Uso believes that they're at the top of the mountain, at this point. We cannot wait for their clash with The New Day, come WWE Fastlane.
#2 Booker T shockingly praised Jason Jordan
For the duration that Booker T was behind the commentary desk, he was always ripping on Kurt Angle's son- Jason Jordan. Now that he's no longer in character, he actually said he's disappointed that Jordan will miss his WrestleMania moment, due to an injury.
This is what Booker T said on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, about the current crop of WWE talent and the future:
I praise guys like Elias, going out there doing their thing, Jason Jordan, right now, man, I'm sick about Jason Jordan being on the shelf; I wanted to see him go out and have his WrestleMania moment. Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, rising from the ashes of what he was doing, the independent scene for 15 years—the Finn Balors of the world that I've seen do remarkable, spectacular things. With Neville many, many years ago…I'm very optimistic, man
It's clear that he will continue to be an advocate for WWE even though he's no longer there in a weekly role. Long live King Booker!
#3 Eric Bischoff spoke his mind about Ric Flair
Eric Bischoff was recently a guest on the WWE Photo Shoot series on the WWE Network, where he spoke his mind about a variety of topics. Among them was the subject of Nature Boy Ric Flair.
It is well known that the two men haven't always seen eye to eye. Bischoff admitted this, and also spoke about the same, during the show. He maintained that they took their animosity that translated that into compelling TV:
We were able to take those challenges and those difficulties we had, from a business and personal point of view, and weave them successfully into storylines that ended up being some of the best storylines I think we had on Nitro. A lot of respect for Ric Flair, he's just a great guy.
#4 Charlotte Flair wants to break Asuka's streak
Asuka may have won the Royal Rumble, but she hasn't yet named who she wants to face at WrestleMania 34. It was assumed that she would want to face Alexa Bliss, considering both are on RAW. But Charlotte Flair wants her at WrestleMania, just as bad. She even said so, in an interview.
Speaking to SiriusXM, this is what the Queen said:
I want to wrestle Asuka, I want to break her streak. We've never faced each other, never been in a multi-woman match. I feel her coming from Japan and having her own legacy, and coming from a completely different culture, and then my background, I think it's definitely a WrestleMania moment. So that's who I would like to face.
Here's the interesting part. Charlotte Flair was then asked about possibly facing Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania.
Flair said she had to pay her dues first, before facing her.
#5 Alexa Bliss revealed if her Elimination Chamber tears were real
Right after she won the Elimination Chamber match, Alexa Bliss seemed to be turning babyface. She addressed the camera with tears in her eyes. Moments later, she showed her true colours. The swerve was wonderful.
Bliss addressed the promo during an interview with ESPN:
Those were real tears for a minute, and then I had to be mean. It was great because I knew what my next move was. I was very excited to see how the crowd was going to react. I am very proud of the women's division and genuinely happy that this happened and the fact that I got the 'You deserve it!' chant from the crowd, I don't take that for granted; it's amazing for our fans to do, but at the end of the day, I'm the bad guy and I can't have them cheering me. It wouldn't be very Bliss of me if I thanked them for cheering me.
Whoa. Now, that was an eye-opener. We had no idea that those tears were real, if even for a minute. What a great promo Bliss is!
#6 Ivory spoke about her issues with Jacqueline
Ivory will be going into the WWE Hall of Fame, on WrestleMania week. She caught up with Stone Cold Steve Austin ahead of her induction and spoke about a variety of topics. Among them were the problems she faced with Jacqueline Moore. She claimed Moore used her as a punching bag.
Ivory, upon a bit of insistence from the guys, decided to put her foot down:
I started to feel like, 'man, I don't even like this anymore. It hurts too much!' And people started nudging me and the guys would say, 'you've got to put your foot down!' And I put my foot down by saying, 'that's not what wrestling is.' Nobody wants to pay to see a real chick fight because it's ugly and it doesn't sell.
#7 Dolph Ziggler shockingly broke character
Speaking of swerves, this was yet another wonderful swerve. During a Live Event, Dolph Ziggler was supposed to take on Shinsuke Nakamura. Incidentally, it was Nakamura's birthday. Ziggler grabbed the mic and asked the audience to sing for him.
As the crowd sang along, Ziggler tried to attack Nakamura. The latter anticipated the attack and grabbed Ziggler's leg. This was extremely corny and extremely WWE.
And that concludes our roundup of news from the world of wrestling. Hope you had as much fun reading, as we had bringing you your weekly dose of SKFabe.
Have a great weekend, guys!
