WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis has encountered an unexpected situation. He has to make the harsh decision of stripping a current champion of her title without even giving her a fighting chance. Moreover, a sudden real-life issue has rendered Bianca Belair unable to defend her title at all.
The EST of WWE is in her second reign as the Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Jade Cargill. They have relentlessly defended their titles multiple times in the past few weeks on all three brands of the company. However, Cargill recently got injured, and according to a report by WresteVotes, she will be out for a long time and even miss the 2025 Royal Rumble. Moreover, the Stamford-based promotion seems to be discussing what needs to be done for the women's tag titles.
This puts Nick Aldis in a very difficult position. He may be forced to take the title from Belair and Cargill despite The EST being completely fit. He could have waited for Jade to return to health and kept Bianca Belair engaged in a storyline. After all, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh don’t defend their titles that often, either.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
However, unlike the World Tag Team Championship, the women’s tag titles are open to all three brands of WWE. Thus, this would be unfair to the rest of the tag teams in the women's division. While there is a possibility that the Stamford-based promotion moves in this direction, all of this is speculation without official confirmation so far.
Nick Aldis may prove Liv Morgan right about the tag champs
Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair are ruling the tag team division right now. However, both of them are inherently top-tier singles superstars. While Belair is a former three-time WWE Women’s Champion, Cargill was the inaugural TBS Champion in AEW. Moreover, her reign lasted 508 days before joining the Stamford-based promotion.
Liv Morgan had recently attacked the tag team champs and said that both of them were friends because of their belts. The Women’s World Champion claimed that the minute their belts disappeared, they would turn onto each other. She said that they both see themselves as the best wrestler in the women’s division, and there can’t be two best women at the same time.
Following this, The Storm and The EST of WWE almost came to blows in a 15-woman battle royal to determine Morgan’s next title contender. If Nick Aldis strips the current champions of their tag titles, then The Judgment Day member’s theory could be true.
Since fans are already anticipating a clash between the teammates, WWE could take this approach. It would be interesting to see what lies in the future for Belair and Cargill and if Nick Aldis actually takes their titles away.
