Calyx Harmony Hampton is a proficient American grappler of African American descent, currently representing the NXT brand for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) under the moniker Sol Ruca. Ruca was born on August 26, 1999, in Ontario, California, USA. Her passion for surfing and beach culture shines through in her performances, as she brings a positive, laid-back energy into the ring. Ruca was a gymnast and a member of her school’s gymnastics team before joining WWE.
Ruca joined the WWE Performance Center as an acrobatics and tumbling athlete in March 2022 at the age of 22 with no prior wrestling experience. She began her NXT journey with a victory over Amari Miller. She subsequently faced Valentina Feroz, Fallon Henley, and Lola Vice. After competing against multiple superstars, she engaged in a storyline with Blair Davenport. Their rivalry culminated in a No Disqualification Beach Brawl match, which Ruca won.
Sol Ruca Finisher
Ruca gained social media fame for her inventive finishing move called the "Sol Snatcher," a Springboard Backflip Cutter. In this unique manoeuvre, Ruca vaults onto the second rope in the corner, launches into a graceful front flip, and swiftly takes down her opponent with a manoeuvre reminiscent of the RKO.
This is a unique variation popularised by wrestlers like Cody Rhodes and Will Ospreay. By facing the ropes or turnbuckle, the attacking wrestler sprints and leaps onto the ropes, rebounding off them to catch the opponent in a facelock. They then drive their opponent into a mat with a cutter move, known as the Cody Cutter or OsCutter.
Sol Ruca Earlier Finishing Move
Sol Ruca executes her distinctive Somersault Leg Drop, known as the “Corner Slingshot”, as her earlier finishing manoeuvre. To implement this finisher, Ruca swings their attacking leg forward while standing beside their opponent, swiftly pulling it back. The momentum from this pendulum motion propels Sol into a somersault, allowing them to drop their leg onto the targeted body part with precision.
Sol Ruca Theme Song
"Chasing Surf," by Franck Fossey, is the current theme song of Sol Ruca. As the music hits, Ruca appears, holding a surfboard and exuding a positive attitude. She embodies the spirit of surfing, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the crowd as she confidently strides towards the ring, surfboard in hand.
