Started the year as a champion, ended it as a champion

Now, in the first slide, we mentioned the difference between being a baby face on paper and being a baby face that has the support of the fans. Reigns belongs in the former category. WWE has been trying to push him as a top face in the promotion for quite some time now and these efforts were seen in 2016 as well.

Reigns started the year as the WWE World Heavyweight champion but would drop the title to Triple H at Royal Rumble only to win it again at WrestleMania. A title drop to Seth Rollins and a wellness policy followed for the Samoan Superman but he came back strongly after the brand split.

He would go on to capture the United States Championship and end 2016 just the way he started it: as champion.
